Dark circles and puffy eyes are common for people of all ages. This can cause people to look tired and unhealthy, even when they are feeling great. As a result, many people become self-conscious about their eyes and try to cover them with makeup, like concealer.
Many people are aware of the various cosmetic procedures that can temporarily fill out their under-eye area; unfortunately, few people know about some of the other effective, non-invasive treatments. Our personal favorite under-eye treatment, here at Newport Face N Body is microneedling.
What is Microneedling?
If you’re unfamiliar with microneedling, it’s a non-invasive procedure that uses tiny needles to penetrate the skin in efforts to provoke a healing process. When you get a microneedling treatment done around your eyes, the same concept applies.
Microneedling Under The Eyes
Microneedling to improve the appearance of your eyes involves the use of tiny needles to the skin around the eyes. These small punctures are a form of controlled injury; this process stimulated the body to start its natural healing process, which involves an increase in the production of collagen.
New cells are generated, resulting in a brighter, and more vibrant area under the eyes.
It takes a day or two for the skin to repair itself. The redness disappears within two hours.
Because microneedling is a mechanical procedure, it doesn’t require any harsh chemicals. This makes it much safer than many of the options available.
You’re probably wondering… does it hurt?
The answer to this question really depends on the client’s pain tolerance, but most clients experience minor discomfort. The area under the eye is more sensitive than other areas, but it’s relatively less painful than what most patients find unbearable.
Since the treatment is minimally invasive, the process can be stopped at any time.
How Long Long it Take to See Results?
To achieve their desired results, clients usually need 4 to 6 sessions, spaced about a month apart.
Many clients report seeing results after just one session. This is because the skin is already stimulated enough to start its new collagen formation process which takes place over a period of 10 – 14 days.
As the old skin cells peel off and new cells take their place, the skin under the eyes begin to appear healthier and firmer.
Is if Effective?
Microneedling has been proven to be a safe and effective treatment for under-eye bags and darkness. When you stay with your treatment plan, you will notice your eye bags gradually disappear, and your wrinkles become less visible.
Is Microneedling Under The Eyes Right For You?
Although microneedling is an option for most skin types, the under-eye results will vary depending on the person and their skin. A consultation with Dr. Khafipour will give you a better understanding of the type of results you can expect for microneedling.
